The Rye womenís basketball team has been off to a tough start. The ladies had lost their first four games to open the season coming into winter break. This included most games of Rye falling behind and having to dig themselves out.The Bolts coach Carol Benedict said last week ďThe main thing we have to do this year is to put together four good quarters in a game. We have had multiple slow starts, and itís been tough to overcome.Ē
This week the Bolts came out of the break firing. Rye hosted the James Irwin Jaguars on January seventh. They played their best game of the season by far. Instead of falling in an early hole, the Bolts outscored the Jaguars 20-3 in the first quarter alone! They didnít let up whatsoever, leading by 24 points at the halfway mark. The early cushion was more than enough; as the Bolts got their first win of the season 62-38. Finally Rye put together four solid quarters and look to take that into the second portion of the season.
