The Rye High School Track Team opened their season with The Centennial Invitational on March 18 in Pueblo. Twenty-four teams attended the premier event of the 2017 track season.

Led by Senior Laura Ambler and Senior Natalie Phillips the girl’s track team placed 8th in the meet. Ambler grabbed the gold medal in the 300 Meter Hurdles winning the event in a time of 48.68.

Ambler’s time is the best in the state in the early season standings.

Phillips threw the discus 110’4” to claim the gold. Her sister, junior Felicity Phillips placed 7th in the event. The Phillips’ also have a freshman sister Isabelle. The family moved to the area from South Dakota.
