Rye women’s soccer played their first home game this week, followed by a game Saturday that was snowed out.
Rye’s home opener came against the Pueblo Central Wildcats. Rye fell into an early hole as Central clogged up passing lanes and dominated the flow of the game. The Wildcats would score five first half goals, to Rye’s zero. Senior Alyssa Clayton, the goalkeeper in the first half, couldn’t stop many magnificent shots. The wildcat forwards proved to be incredibly quick, and tough to stop. Despite a tough first half, Rye didn’t quit. Coach Robles made a lineup adjustment at halftime putting Clayton in at defender, and shifting junior Moriah Holt to goalkeeper.
