Seven applicants are seeking the vacant seat on the Pueblo District 60 Board of Education that opened with the departure of Patricia Miller. Although the names of the applicants have not been released yet one applicant has made his application known. He is retired Chief District Court Judge Dennis Maes.
The Pueblo City Council will ask voters in November if they want to go to a strong Mayor form of government. Eight years ago the voters rejected the idea. The mayor would earn $150K/yr. A Pueblo Chieftain on-line straw poll favored the strong mayor form of government 56% to 44%.
The Pueblo Police Department recently received national accreditation, an achievement reached by less than 10% of the agencies in the country. The process took three years. March 25 was the official accreditation date.
