Pueblo County has topped 165,000 people for the second year in a row according to 2016 estimates by the Census Bureau.
An estimated 2006 people were added to the population of the county to push the number of residents in the county to 165,123 according to the census bureau.
It was the second year of population growth since no growth in numbers since 2007. In 2015 the population grew by 1,767.
“I’m pretty confident Pueblo is well over the recession and that our economic numbers, our wage numbers, and job numbers are definitely on the rise,” said Chris Markuson, Director of Economic Development and Geographical Information Systems for Pueblo County. “We are a little slower than some of the metro areas but we are outpacing other communities our size.”
