“Science leaves no room for free will,” is the statement that was debated by seventeen students at Rye High School between April 3 and April 10, 2017. And, while it was debated locally by valley high school students during April, it is the question sponsored by the National Speech and Debate Association (NSDA) for the 2016-2017 school year.

The $700 grant from NSDA was used to purchase awards for the top four finishers of the debate,” said Dr. Kris Lettenmaier of Rye High School. “Additional funds will be used to support the Science Club and the Speech and Debate Clubs next year,” continued Lettenmaier.
