On Friday the seventh, the Rye Woman's Soccer team visited a very tough Lamar team. Rye was without star goalkeeper Alyssa Clayton, midfielder Moriah Holt, and defender Hannah Mantei. Holt and Mantei are Rye’s #2 and #3 goalies. With these players gone, Rye had to play new goalkeepers. Rye got off to a tough start, and was down 6-0 by halftime. In the second half Rubye Pacheco came in at goalkeeper “without even training at the position yet” according to Coach Robles, and impressed only allowing one more in. Rye would lose the game 7-0. “It was a really tough game, we were basically down five girls against a very physical team. I think they are the most physical team we’ve faced. In general we need to score. We went into defensive mode,” said Coach Robles.
