The Rye Thunderbolt Track Team competed in the Pueblo City/County track meet last Friday. Rye, the smallest school in the county finished 5th place in the girl’s portion of the meet and 7th in the boy’s portion.

Natalie Phillips brought home a pair of gold medals in the discus and the shot put to lead the Thunderbolts. Phillips currently has the longest throw in the county in both events. Her marks of 101’10” in the discus and 33’ 1.25” in the shot were both under her personal bests for the year but good enough to bring home the gold.

Jamie Ortiz, Hannah Ambler, Laura Ambler, and Kylie Baudino brought home a third gold for the locals with a 800 sprint medley relay time of 1:59.94, a season best. That time is also the best in the county so far this year.
