Rye Thunderbolt Baseball offense exploded for 17 runs against the Fowler Grizzlies to break an offensive slump.

The Bolts hosted Fowler on the 18th. Rye’s Brandon Johnson was two for two, with four runs scored! Jaxon Ortiz was three for three. Damon Elarton drove in six runs. Bailey Benz had all three of Rye’s extra base hits, with two doubles and a triple. Payton Camper and Bryce Benz combined to allow only three runs on only four hits. Rye won the game 17-3. “We played pretty well. We hit the ball very well, especially with runners in scoring position. All in all a good win,” said Coach Graham on the game.

Coming off of the win, Rye played a doubleheader against the Salida Spartans. In game one, Rye gave the ball to their ace Brandon Johnson. Brandon struggled in the first, allowing two runs and throwing 42 pitches. After that he settled down and got into a groove, striking out seven. Kevin Bailey hit Rye’s first home run of the season, and cam in to relieve Johnson on the mound. Austin Gookin went two for three driving in two.
