As many of my long-time readers know, I was raised in the sophisticated, well heeled, and somewhat pungent town of Sterling, Colorado (town motto: What’s that smell…this time?). And as we near graduation season again, it got me to thinking about my alma mater, good old Sterling High School. Classes like home economics and shop class were required, and if I remember right, the teacher was also the football coach and a cross between a Marine Drill Sergeant and a Broncos linebacker. But man could that lady cook!

Well, all that reminiscing about the good old days got me to thinking about the times after graduation when me and Walt was foot loose and fancy free. Course that’s what the TV shows call it when you got holes in your shoes and you’re eatin wish sandwiches for lunch. After a few weeks of that kind of freedom, trading your time for dollars starts looking mighty good.

So, I thought it might be kinda nice to pass along some bits of wisdom for all them folks down to the school who are just chompin at the bit to get outta that confinement cell and experience the taste of freedom in the world of adults (but enough about the teachers, this is for the students too!).
