During Senate confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominees, the liberal test of, "What is your position on Roe V Wade?" The January 1973 decision granted women the right to abortion within the first trimester (an arbitrarily determined period in which the fetus was nonviable). Follow-on cases eliminated the first trimester requirement, leaving viability to the judgment of the practicing physician, i.e. the abortionist today we're at the point of terminating late-term and botched abortions of viable fetuses. Back to the Senate: if Roe V Wade was established on solid constitutional grounds, why the concern? Through 2014, 59+ million babies have been terminated, by now well over 60 million. I do believe that in this great universe of ours someone or something is in control; hence, I bring up the possibility of predestination. Out of that 60 million maybe a cure for cancer and many other diseases; maybe someone with intelligence and fortitude to solve many of today's social and economic problems; and many joining the workforce, contributing to Medicare and Social Security alleviating the drain on both programs.
