Coming off of weeks of defensive issues, the Bolts played two games against the St. Mary’s Pirates. According to Head Coach Stacey Graham Rye Baseball played their best defensive game against St. Mary’s. The Bolts used fantastic pitching and defense to keep pace with the Pirates. The Bolts held a potent Pirate offense to only two runs on six hits. The Bolts made a couple of “great defensive plays, that we haven’t been making this season,” according to Coach Graham. Even though Rye had three errors, they kept pace with the Pirates. The Bolts couldn’t get the bats going against the Pirates pitching, being shut out by a quality team. Game one of the doubleheader finished 2-0. “We struggled at hitting and executing our small ball to move the runners,” said Coach Graham, “We played a good baseball game overall.”
