As the state track meet nears the Rye High School Thunderbolt track teams are down to their final several meets to qualify. As of May 8 according to Head Coach Tammy Van Oort the Thunderbolts had qualifiers in eight events.

Natalie Phillips is currently 7th in the shot put and 9th in the discus. Felicity Phillips is 14th in the discus. Kylie Baudino is qualified 11th in the 400 meters. The woman’s 4x800 meter relay team has the 9th best time in the state and the 4x400 meter relay team is sitting at 18th, the last slot in the qualification list.

The men’s team is in 7th with their 4x400 meter relay team and 15th with their 4x800 relay team.

“Clearly these are subject to change this week,” commented Van Oort. “We will stack the relays that are lower in the rankings to try to make them secure--but every team in the state is doing the same thing. “
