About 25 individuals attended the Wildscape Presentation at the Greenhorn Valley Library on Thursday, July 6. They represented diverse landscapes from the flats on the other side of I-25 to the foothills above Rye.

Linda McMulkin started the program with a slide show introducing the various organizations involved in promoting wildscaping, showing how metropolitan areas have increased over the last few decades and the impact that has on the birds and other wildlife. The goal is to increase biodiversity by using plants native to our area—plants the birds and wildlife recognize. Gardeners are encouraged to balance beauty with function; to provide a food web for wildlife, increase the watershed value and help with soil restoration. Birds not only need food, they require shelter and nesting areas.
