Since the year 1900 there have been nearly 100 documented predictions of the demise of the planet. One of the most recent was released on June 28 in The Guardian. Former United Nations Climate Chief Christiana Figueres says that avoiding dangerous levels of climate change is still just about possible, “but will require unprecedented effort and coordination from everyone", in the next three years.
I apologize for not getting this news to you sooner because now we only have about two years and 11 months left, but I thought the Viewpoint on uni-sex bathrooms last week and the one the week before on my first experience with fireworks was more relevant.
Now, just for the record, there are also at least nine predictions listed in Wikipedia saying the planet will end anywhere from 2020 to the year 11,120. There is also a section labeled “Scientific predictions” which give the planet between 500,000 and 22 billion more years. That creates a very wide range, doesn’t it? Three years to 22 billion years before it all comes crashing down around us.
