Nicole Gibbs was a cheerleader from the first grade through her graduation at Rye High School in 1994. This year she is the coach of the re-created Rye High School Cheerleading Squad. Itís not much of a stretch to imagine Gibbs in that position. Not only was she a cheerleader every year she was in school, she also has five daughters, two who are part of the eight-woman squad that will represent the Thunderbolts on the sidelines this school year.

Gibbs has pondered the desire to coach the cheerleaders since graduation but it never felt like the right time. Now she feels it is time. ďAs I have gone to sporting events with my daughters I feel like the spirit is down a little. A good cheerleading squad can not only bring spirit back but they can take negative energy and channel it in a positive direction.Ē
