Lori and I were invited to participate in a journalism panel sponsored by the Colorado Press Association and the Society of Professional Journalists held at CSU-Pueblo last week (see the story on page ____). Lori was in Garden City, Kansas helping her younger sister recover after surgery in Denver so I decided to accept the invitation.

I have to admit I was a little nervous. With me on the panel were people like Steve Henson, Managing Editor of the Pueblo Chieftain. He has been with the Chieftain for almost 40 years, and the Chieftain itself is the oldest paper in Colorado-over 150 years and counting. By the way, it is not only the oldest paper in the state but the third largest.

Vince Bzdek, is the Editor-in-Chief of the Colorado Springs Gazette. That is the second largest paper in Colorado. Vince worked for 18 years at the Washington Post before coming to the Gazette. One of the editors he worked with on several stories was Bob Woodward. You know, THAT Bob Woodward.
