The Rye Colorado City Saddle Club held their final Competitive event for 2017. The Obstacle Course Challenge had a minimal number of entries compared to the first year it was offered. Thoughts of the weather being the real challenge, however it was perfect this year. Perhaps Harvest Fest in Canon City, or the Chile Festival in Pueblo caused the entries to decline. Regardless, Nan & Phil Hassey were dressed up for the occasion and they set up a unique Medieval Obstacle Course that proved to be a challenge for a few horses. Obstacles of their imagination ranged from riding through the forest, shooting the bow and arrow into a scarecrow, crossing a wooden bridge to pulling up a draw bridge, maneuvering around gates, slaying an eight foot fire breathing Dragon and finally rescuing a fair princess. There was time for laughter and encouragement from all those in attendance.
