Bill’s sister called us back in March and said they were going on an African safari in Tanzania at the beginning of September and asked if we would be interested in coming along. There was no hesitation in answering YES. Checked that one off our bucket list. When one decides to go on an African safari, it’s a good idea to start with your doctor and find out what inoculations and medicines you’ll need and then find a good travel agent. As you read along you can hum the song “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” by The Tokens or “Baby Elephant Walk” by Henry Mancini.

We flew into Arusha that is a city in Northern Tanzania and the capital of the Arusha Region. The city is close to the Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Lake Manyara National Park, Olduvai Gorge, Tarangire National Park, Mount Kilimanjaro and Arusha National Park on Mount Meru. The first night the hotel had comfortable beds, but forgot that customers like water that does more than dribble out of a faucet the next morning.
