Teachers and staff held the first assemblies of the school year recognizing outstanding students in front of well over 100 grandparents, parents, siblings, and well wishers. The first assembly recognized K-3 graders with perfect attendance for the first quarter of the academic year. The second assembly began with Principal Sue Moore asking bantam level Thunderbolt football players and cheerleaders to stand and be acknowledged for their recently completed, successful season.

Rye Elementary School is a nationally recognized high performing school based on excellent teachers, dedicated administrators, supportive staff, and focused students. The following fourth grade students performed at or above the 85th percentile in math or language arts or both during the 2017 Colorado Measure of Academic Success:
