Cross-country State Competition is not for the faint of heart. Its fast paced and tough. We had placed so much emphasis on getting to state as a team, that I really wanted them to take advantage of the opportunity, and run with the same intensity they did at regionals, stated Coach TJ Blackhurst.

Four of the six girls set personal best records on a tough state course against 15 other full teams. Raechel Lopez, with tough side aches, managed to still finish at 22:18.40, which is the fastest time any Rye girls runner has had for state. Lopez finished 4th again at state, relative to her other competition from our region, stated Blackhust. Faith Paquette, even after a rollover accident the day before, came in second for Rye at 23:41.70. The next four runners included: Lindsey Muniz at 24:50.10; Lauren Maroney at 26:03.00; Emily Peterson at 27:21.50 and Rebecca Lopez at 28:27.20.
