Phase I findings for the Greenhorn Valley Trail Master Plan were unveiled at a workshop held Wednesday evening, October 25, at the Colorado City Metro District board room. The workshop was the next step in the development and refinement of the overall Master Plan. The meeting ran from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. and elicited thoughts from ten community members who attended the workshop.

An initial map was shared with Lake Beckwith as the hub of the recreational plan. Plans to improve the restrooms, replace the existing trail, add two highway crossings and a 5.2 mile overall trail were shared. The current plan connects six of the top ten surveyed destinations. For the most part, the trails are on Colorado City land removing the need for easements and purchases of property.

The next morning members of the project team met with Pueblo County Commissioner Terry Hart to begin discussions about funding support from the county and to bring the plan to fruition. Phase I is being funded by a GOCO (Greater Outdoors Colorado) grant.
