New Year’s Day is not only the beginning of a new calendar year in our family. It is also a celebration of the birth of my wife – a New Year’s Day baby. So, mixed in with the texts, phone calls and e-mails wishing us a Happy New Year are as many or more Happy Birthday’s for my spouse.

In fact the holidays are packed with family events, probably more than most. Beginning on November 16th my grandson Blake has a birthday. He turned three this year. On November 25th my daughter Amber has a birthday. She is currently at an undisclosed age. Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday, probably because I am about the same age as many of the Pilgrims.

In December, oldest granddaughter Kahlynn has a birthday on the 6th. This year she turned five. Youngest granddaughter Ellison has her birthday on the 16th. This year she turned one. Then Christmas rolls around. Finally my wife celebrates her birthday. It is truly a wonderful time of the year.
