I follow a web site called Linked-in. It is set up for business and I believe was primarily developed to help people get jobs in the private sector. It also allows you to publish business related articles.

Bill Gates has recently been doing a series of articles. The primary focus of the articles is how mankind is pulling itself up by the boot straps and advancing to be a higher species.

The articles remind me of a deeply intellectual “beauty contestant” who when asked what they want most answers “world peace.”

A wonderful if impossible goal in the here and now.

The Bible tells in Romans 3:23’” for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.”

One only need look at the news each night to no that the way man is cruel to his fellow man may have changed but man is still cruel- born in sin.

The very next verse in Romans 3 tells us, “and all are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.”

Man will never pull himself up by his own bootstraps. For every brilliant man who tries to do good there are other brilliant men who try and do evil. It has been that way since the beginning.

Any change in our heart has to come from Jesus. And how does Jesus and His Father view our change of heart?

Psalm 103:10-12 describes it this way. “He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.”

Men can try to be “good”, some even try to be God, but when we look to the Savior, then and only then, our transgressions are removed “as far as the east is from the west.”
