The Greenhorn Valley Branch of the Pueblo City/County Library District hosted a reception from 1-3 PM, Friday, February 16, 2018 for valley centenarian Monica Agnew-Kinnaman, who achieved the milestone five days earlier. The event was attended by some forty valley residents including members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7305 of which Kinnaman is a member. “In my opinion, Monica is a national treasure. She fought in the Battle of Britain during World War II as a captain in an artillery unit and has made significant contributions to her native, as well as her adopted, country,” said Post Commander Fred Ettleman.

According to data gathered by the United Nations, Kinnaman is one of 316,600 individuals, worldwide, to reach 100 years of age. Said District Chief Operations Officer Sara Rose, “While there may be a number of centenarians in the world, Dr. Kinnaman lives in the Greenhorn Valley, is a military veteran, a noted author of children’s books, holds a doctoral degree in psychology, and is an absolute delight to meet and converse with. Our purpose was to invite our community to the library to give them an opportunity to meet this very special valley resident.”
