The Greenhorn Valley Chamber held their monthly meeting February 21st at the Greenhorn Library. V.P. Gay Christie reviewed email notations provided by Marcy Freeburg, Chamber President who was absent. Freeburg had previously sent a survey out to the membership regarding whether or not the chamber was of value to the community. Of those that responded, fifty percent stated that the chamber should be kept. Other comments: the chamber would be of value if it offered a list of the smaller 1-2 man operations such as plumbers and electricians, have the chamber office staffed and have someone recruit businesses to the valley. The board discussed how people shop for things using their phones and the internet which makes it harder to utilize a chamber. The trend is to use the local social media sites to pursue various services and it doesn’t seem to matter if those recommendations are chamber members let alone ones that are licensed and insured.

Freeburg had also noted that the chamber should start using a program called SquareUp. It will help with keeping records, it will automatically invoice members, take payment online or via cheque.
