im Montalbano coached the Rye High School Boy’s and Girl’s golf team for two seasons over 15 years ago. When his daughter, Anna, came into the world he put that aside to free up time to be at home with his family.

As Anna and her brother Sam have gotten older, Montalbano, who loves the game of golf, began to look for an opportunity to coach the sport again.

Then Dee Betts announced his retirement last year and Montalbano got his opportunity, not only to coach the women’s golf program, but also to coach daughter Anna, a sophomore on the squad.

“Anna and I talked about me coaching the team,” said Montalbano. “She was very excited about it. I told her to wait and see if she is still excited about it at the end of the season.”

“I love the game of golf,” shared Montalbano. “And it is a sport that gives the girls a lot of chances to learn life lessons. Golf mirrors the ups and downs of life and I like to be a part of showing my squad those aspects of a game they can play all their life.”
