For five innings of the first game of a doubleheader with the LaJunta Tigers the Rye High

School baseball team had the ranked visitor worried. But, a total of 15 walks doomed the Thunderbolts to a doubleheader loss 2-7 and 7-16.

“The walks killed us,” said Head Coach Stacey Graham. “In the first game I felt like we had a chance to pull the game out but we kept putting men on base without them having to earn it.”

But, Graham was pleased by the fact his Thunderbolts committed only three errors in the two games. “We played really well in the field,” he shared. “Austin (Gookin) made a really good diving stop on a ball hit in the six hole and Zach (Richardson) and Creed both came in full speed on a shallow hit ball and ran into each other but Zach held onto the ball.”
