In memory of Maggie Drew Peters, a Memorial Scholarship has been established at Rye High School so that Maggie’s family can help support graduates from Rye High School in achieving their future dreams. “We are seeking applicants who are bold, passionate, adventurous, curious, and seeking to have a positive impact on the world,” said Maggie’s mother and founder of the scholarship, Karen Hopkins. “These are characteristics Maggie showed, and this scholarship is designed to help students dream big and embrace life,” she continued.

Funds for this scholarship were raised in several different ways, including a local Polar Plunge and a GoFundMe page. The Polar Plunge, which took place on December 16, 2017 at Colorado City’s Lake Beckwith, had an estimated 200 people attend and 80 students, parents, and community members actually participate in the Plunge.
