I am excited about the upcoming Colorado City Metro District election. I get excited about most elections. Free elections are such a wonderful blessing. I will admit I had reservations about covering the debate Wednesday night since I also serve on the Metro District. It’s one of those damned if you do, damned if you don’t, deals. Someone will always think you are being unfair to someone. It would have also been nice if all four candidates had been there. Oh well……

The newspaper has sponsored debates in the past and they were poorly attended. Perhaps it was because we held them in a church. Being struck by lightning, indoors, says so much about your character. I am happy to report no candidates or attendees were ever lost at any of the debates.

But it was nice to see so many people attend the debate. “So many” is a relative term. There were somewhere between 50-60 people who filled the room and left people scrambling for seats, but even that number is a small percentage of the eligible voters. Perhaps some had already voted. Perhaps some had made up their mind. Perhaps, some couldn’t have cared less.
