The sun was shining bright on this Saturday April 28th morning and there was a great turnout for the Kid’s Fishing Derby, sponsored by the Greenhorn Valley Chamber of Commerce. The Derby was for all kids ages 15 and younger; there were eighteen kids eight & under and twenty six kids 8-15 years old registered between 7 and 8 a.m. to enter in the Derby. Along with those 44 entrants were Mom and Dads, Grammas & Grandpas and other relatives too. Since the Derby lasted until noon most brought chairs and umbrellas, some had lunch and snacks and the Chamber furnished bottles of water and other items. They were all set for fishin’ the morning away.

There were several boats out on the lake full of kids fishing and Dads rowing, all soaking up the sunshine.

All entrants received a gift and the winners with the largest trout in the two age categories received either a tackle box or a new fishing pole which were, donated by ACE Hardware.
