Eight members of the Rye High School track team qualified for the state track meet to be held at JeffCo Stadium, Denver, this Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The results were bittersweet according to Head Coach Conner Pigg.

“We ran at altitude on a warm and windy day and the times and distances we needed to get some additional teams into the state meet proved unattainable,” analyzed Pigg. “We are very proud of the season on the whole but ended the regular season on a bitter sweet note.”

To qualify for state athletes, have to be in the top 18.

“Our girls 4x800 meter relay finished 20th in the state and the girls 4x400 meter relay finished 19th. Logan Kirkendal finished 20th in the discus as did our boys 4x800 meter relay,” Pigg continued. “. We have nearly 10 athletes that are between 19th and 22nd.
