I've been watching the TV series called, "The Americans," based on Soviet spies posing as an American family during the Cold War. It's in its final season; it's the 1980s, so not hard to guess the outcome for the Soviets. In a recent episode Gorbachev is in power and coordinating with Reagan on arms reduction. Evidently, there were factions on the Soviet side conspiring to embarrass, and consequently oust, their leader by falsifying information coming out of the arms talks. This was coordinated by the KGB at the direction of their Central Committee these were the guys really in charge. I don't know if this truly was a fact or the writers were taking dramatic license to make the show more interesting. Anyway, we have a situation today that is analogous to the events in the series, i.e., the Trump-Russian collusion story. If you replace the KGB with the FBI, the events of the past two years seem to make more sense. Before the election, and while simultaneously putting the HRC email investigation to rest, the agency decided to "stack the deck" in favor of HRC by initiating an investigation on the Trump campaign.
