Renee Montano, Greenhorn Valley Library employee and Pueblo County Historical Society member, introduced Dusty Morris as Monday evenings speaker at History Night. Approximately 20 people came to hear Morris speak about local history and how he is using Google Earth to track and find historical sites.

The first segment of his presentation was devoted to the abandoned Fort Reynolds located near the Autobee settlement and across the river from Boone. Morris explained the fort had eroded away to the point no one knew where it was located, but he has been able to pinpoint its location by using maps overlaid on Google Earth maps. Adding research from Pueblo County Library, Library of Congress, and Pueblo County Historical documents, Morris believes he can recreate the forts location and lay out right down to the ferry crossings the occupants used to cross the river to Boone to pick up their mail. He says he has spent about two years working on his maps and research.
