Voters Want Polis to Face Stapleton for Hickenlooper Replacement

Twenty-seven thousand and eighty-three Pueblo County voters went to the polls to cast their primary ballots in the unofficial results posted by the Pueblo County Clerk Gilbert Ortiz.

In the vote for the Democratic candidate for Governor, Jared Polis received nearly 7000 votes in the four-candidate race. Statewide Polis carried 44% of the vote with Cary Kenney coming in second with 24% of the vote.

On the Republican side of the ticket Walker Stapleton won the Pueblo County vote with over 4700 of the 10,000 votes cast in the four-man race. Statewide Stapleton carried a convincing 47% of the vote followed by Victor Mitchell with 30% of the vote.

In the race for representative to the 116th United States Congress, local Democrats gave the nod to Diane Mitsch Bush who collected 9,169 of the 15,835 votes cast. She will face incumbent Scott Tipton in the general election.
