Listen to Maddie Armstrong talk for a little while and it is easy to see why she won the honor of Westcliffe Miss Stampede for 2019. She is a beautiful mix of modesty, intelligence, personality, and humor, with a deep love of horses and family showing as she talks about her upcoming reign.

A Greenhorn Valley resident, Maddie enjoyed serving as Rye/Colorado City (RCC) Saddle Club royalty a few years ago, so when she was approached by the Westcliffe pageant coordinator about running for their royalty she decided to participate.

The pageant contest consisted of a modeling session, a speech contest, an impromptu question session, and a horseback riding category where the ladies had to do riding patterns, carry the flag, and do the queens wave. Maddie says she enjoyed the competition, although the question session and speech contest were a little stressful. Her coronation will be in December and her reign will start Jan 1, 2019.
