Calls for service this year to the Pueblo Police Department are averaging 391 calls per day, just shy of 83,000 for the first seven months of the year. During the same time period in 2016 there were 73,260 calls and in 2014, 71,317 calls. The Pueblo County Sheriff call volume is also up. They handle about 31,000 calls annually, a number that has increased year after year since the 1990’s.

Springside Cheese’s cheddar cheese curds won first place in their category at the American Cheese Society Awards in Pittsburg on July 27. That is the second time since 2013 the company has received the top honor. The business is located at 517 W. 5th St., No. 104.

According to the Denver based Employers Council Pueblo appears to be trailing the rest of the Front Range on projected wage growth. Pueblo anticipates a 2.5% increase in wages by next year compared to a 3.1% projection state-wide. Average wage growth of 3% began in 2017 and if the projections are correct next year’s increase would also surpass projected inflation.
