Randy Hoosier graduated July 29th from basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. His mother, Wanda Mangrum, received a letter from Randy’s Company Commander stating Randy had been named the number one soldier of his platoon.

Roy Christenson had donated his auctioneer services for the Cuerno Verde Square and Compass Club Benefit Auction. Proceeds from the auction, held at Intermountain Welding in Rye, were to be used to move the old Crow Building to the site east of the True Value Hardware store.

The Greenhorn Mtn. Jaycee’s 4th Annual Music Festival was held at The Greenhorn Meadows Park. Entertainment was provided by bands, Loco Pony, Generic Bluegrass, and White Pine. Gus Sandstorm, candidate for District Attorney attended the festival.

The Pueblo County “Road Gang” Pete Cozzolino, Danny Sisnroy, Joe Dazzio Jr., Jerry Alarid, Bob Salvo, Don Armijo Sr., and Sam Spinnuzi were working on oiling and graveling in Colorado City.

Holly Hanson, Round Robin Superintendent for Pueblo County Fair announced the Round Robin winners. Grand Champion-Senior Division was Greta Hanson; Grand Champion-Junior Division was Darrel Radacy; Reserve Grand Champion-Senior Division was Jere Beth Donley; and Reserve Grand Champion-Junior Division was Eric Hanson.

Dale Fall won the 14th Annual Rowdy Golf Tournament with Dave Wade placing second and Fil Babitz finishing third. Ralph Divelbiss won “close to the pin” and “long drive” and “low putt” went to Fil Babitz. The trophy presentation was done by Kristy Higgins, granddaughter of Holland Duell.

There were 15 entrants in the Rimrock pool tournament. Bill Hobson won 1st place, Rich Pool, 2nd place, and Ralph Karnes 3rd place. They will all be eligible to compete in the Champion of Champions Tournament in December.
