Junior’s Hayden Palmer and Robert Buford ran for 141 yards and Buford caught a pair of passes for another 41 yards as the Rye High School football team opened their season under first year Coach Connor Pigg with a 27-8 victory over Ellicott in front of a supportive home town crowd.

“We were incredibly impressed with our offensive backfield,” commented Pigg. “Palmer and Buford showed that they knew how to run the football and we liked the solid line play of Johnny Marquez and Kreed Rahl.”

Rahl was also the co-leader on defense with four tackles. Teammate Hayden Polk also had four tackles and a pair of sacks in the victory. Polk is a sophomore. The Thunderbolts held Ellicott to 84 total yards.
