A tough Thunderbolt defense and a reshuffled offensive backfield gave the Rye High School football team a 10-6 win over the John Mall Panthers on the T-Bolt home turf last Friday night.

A practice injury to leading rusher, Hayden Palmer, forced Head Coach Conner Pigg and staff to re-align the offensive backfield. Robert Buford moved to wingback and responded with 72 yards on 16 carries and an additional 20 yards on kickoff returns. Hayden Polk who moved to fullback had 39 yards on 13 carries. All told the home team only managed 128 yards rushing compared to John Mallís 229 yards on the ground.

The Thunderbolts didnít gain a single yard through the air.

Quarterback Bryce Benz was unsuccessful in six pass attempts.
