Rye’s T-Bolts, as part of their goal, stepped it up at the Colorado 2A Region 3 Cross Country Meet on Friday, Oct. 19 with both teams qualifying for State Competition at the Norris-Penrose Center on Saturday, Oct. 27.

The Lady T-Bolts first three runners who came in 2nd, 12th and 14th clinched the 3rd place for the team at Regionals. Audrey Maroney beat the school record by over a minute and finished 2nd with a time of 19:55. Maroney actually finished 3rd but an error by the 2nd place runner at Platte Canyon High School caused Maroney to be given a second place at Regionals. Clarissa Peterson took 12th at 21:47.2; Lindsey Muniz, who ran with a bad case of shin splints, was 14th at 21:53.1; Faith Paquette, 27th at 22:57.3; Lauren Maroney, 40th at 24:49.7; Emily Peterson, 45th at 25:27.5; Christina Kirkland, 55th at 31:18.2. A runner qualifies for State if they finish in the top 15. Because Rye’s entire team took 3rd at Regionals they can take 6 runners with two alternates to State competition.
