Rye Fire Department Firemen and Chief Steve Bennett were having as much fun as the Goblins were. Their booth also served as a background so that they could take photos of Trick or Treaters.

Karon Banta is the coordinator of the ‘Halloween Town in Rye’ which has been held on Halloween evening every year for the past six years. Banta said, “Holly Tittel is my ‘Halloween Town’ partner, together we get things set up and do a lot of behind the scenes work that needs done before the other activities start.”

After hosting several Halloween Events at Brush Canyon Ranch, Banta said they had run their course after a few years and had been dropped, so she was open for a new venture. When approached with an idea from former Rye Mayor, Terry Mabrey, she was available. He asked if she would be up for trying a Halloween Event in Rye. Karon said that he suggested closing the Main Street of Rye on Halloween night for a Trick or Trick Event. She said, “Let’s give it a try!”

Banta, along with the Town of Rye, Marty Rahl, Ben Asklof and Natalie Lepley established ‘Halloween Town’ on October 31, 2012. Putting together their ideas was the beginning of a great event that many Greenhorn Valley residents, businesses and others joined in to make a much looked forward to event.
