Two weeks ago, the Rye High School Girls’ basketball team outscored their opponents 39-5 in the fourth quarter as they rolled to three victories. This week, with an ever-improving press, they didn’t wait until the fourth quarter. They outscored a pair of opponents 43-5 in the first quarter and never looked back.
On the 14th at home against John Mall the Lady T-s built a 20-3 first quarter into a 54-12 victory. Sophie Adamson scored 15 points and had four assists. Sister Sydney Adamson scored 14 points and had five assists and Jolee Ortiz had a dozen points.
Madison Gookin grabbed 11 boards and Emma Lesser had 10 boards. The team shot 38% from the field and 38% from the free throw line.
The next day they traveled to Swallows and outscored the home team 23-2 in the opening quarter on the way to a 62-22 victory.
