October 4 Edition – Rye High School, along with several middle schools in District 70, were awarded a grant from the Attorney General for the Sources of Strength training. Sources of Strength Is a training aimed at prevention for suicide, violence, bullying and substance abuse. About 30 people attended the training.

Rye Telephone Company was one of three USConnect providers who received national recognition for delivering broadband-enabled solutions to rural areas throughout the nation. At a gathering of more than 1,300 rural telecommunications industry leaders the three awards were presented.

Obie’s Fillin Station and Max’s Place split the top award in the Western Days Chili Cookoff Competition held at the River of Life Church. Nan Hassey, Sabina Runnells, and John Hronich won individual awards. It was the 5th event of its kind.

Jonathan Ambler was selected local Author of the Year by the Greenhorn Valley Literary Club.
