Complete lists of birds reported on the Lake Isabel/Spanish Peaks Christmas Bird Counts(CBC) are now posted on the Audubon Society's website .

The historic 49th annual Lake Isabel CBC 1-5-19 was attended by 17 participants in up to 5 parties. 68 species were tallied, 11th best total of 49 counts. 50+ degree weather saw many birds absent for a month rise like the fabled phoenix to appear on Count Day. A N. Pygmy-Owl was found in the Beulah area by Brandon Percival & Van Truan for only the 4th time of 49 counts. Margie Joy's team enjoyed 3 Eastern Bluebirds just west of Lake Beckwith. In the Greenhorn Valley & nearby areas, they've been more common than Western Bluebirds this Winter in an unusual reversal of fortune.
