This is the year that the Executive branch (a.k.a. Donald Trump) will keep his ego in check and revert to minimal use of Twitter and, after two years in office, the Trump doubters will acknowledge him as our duly elected President. This is the year that the legislative branch will reach across the aisle in a bipartisan effort to conduct factual debates, make compromises, and develop sound laws for the good of the country, setting personal self-interest aside. This is the year that the Judiciary, at all levels, will make all decisions and findings based on standing law rather than ideological bias or Trump Derangement Syndrome. This is the year that the media, i.e. mainstream, will provide due diligence by vetting stories before publication and start reporting, rather than inventing, the news. This is the year that Central American countries will put their own houses in order, ensuring "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness," providing their citizens safe and secure homes within their respective borders. And, dare I say, this is the year that pigs get their licenses to fly. All things being equal, let's all try to have a happy and prosperous New Year's.
