Last Thursday, January 17, the Craver Middle School children got a break from their regular classes with an early morning assembly that lasted an hour. But when 81% of the student body makes the honor roll in one 9-week period, it takes awhile to pass out the awards.

Craver has three levels of Honor Rolls. To make the Honor Roll, a student needs a 3.0 or higher Grade Point Average (GPA) for the 9-week period. Those students with a 3.5 to 3.9 GPA make the Principal's Honor Roll. And those students with a 4.0 GPA make the Principal's Honor Roll with Distinction.

A certificate was awarded to all those who made the honor roll. Those that made the Principal's Honor Roll were also awarded a silver card, giving them 50% off all school activities this semester. Those making the Principal's Honor Roll with Distinction were awarded a gold card, which allows them to attend all school activities this semester for free.

When a student makes the Principal's Honor Roll with Distinction for the semester, the student receives an academic jacket. For each subsequent semester during which a student maintains a 4.0 GPA, a star is embroidered on their jacket. A student that maintains a 4.0 GPA for all three years at Craver would have a jacket with five stars.
