Boys Team Falls Short in League Contests

The T-Bolts were in trouble the first half against the John Mall Panthers, but narrowed the deficit when Brock Benz tied the score 20-20 near the end of the 3rd quarter. Rye was hoping for a comeback by momentarily taking the lead but lost the away conference game 43-47 at the end of the 4th quarter on Friday, Jan. 25. Rye also lost to Crowley County on Sat. Jan. 26 42-51 during an away conference game. Chris Colbert #15 finished the night with 5 points, 5 rebounds and 1 assist. For Crowley County he had 9 points, 4 rebounds and 1 assist.

Rye Boys Basketball took on two opponents over the past week. Unfortunately, the teams were strong opponents resulting in losses for the Thunderbolts. The overall record for the Thunderbolts stands at 6-9, and they are placed 34th in the state for 2A. They are scheduled to play against the Fowler Grizzlies on Friday February 1st.

The first team the Thunderbolts took on were the John Mall Panthers, the game was played on Friday January 25th. The final score was 43-47, ending with a close loss for the Thunderbolts. The leading scorer for the game was senior, Damon Elarton scoring 15 points during the game. The team had a total of 24 rebounds with Chris Colbert and Elarton ending with the most with five rebounds each.
