Television mysteries and movies are full of a paranoia about “Big Brother.” The all-seeing, all-knowing government that monitors us in so many ways. Cameras are at every street corner, listening devices so small and powerful you struggle to locate them and video apps in which you can be recorded with no knowledge that it is going on.

I won’t say I never worry about any of that but regardless of how careful you are the Bible promises that one day everything we have done will be revealed.

Hebrews 4:13 tells us that,” nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.”

I remember one time as a young child I was in a grocery store and passed a display of boxes of Bing cherries. They looked wonderful. I glanced each direction and helped myself to one of the ripe, red pieces of fruit. At the instant I placed the cherry in my mouth my mother rounded the corner.

I was caught “red” handed. I came away from the experience certain that Mom knew and saw everything. I had a reverent fear of her abilities.

I have an even more reverent fear, perhaps respect is a better word., for God and his son, Jesus Christ. For despite the fact that “all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23) God, even though He knows every single thing I’ve ever done has created a way out for us.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish; but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

The love of Jesus erases the tape on my sins, if I believe He is the Son of God, dies for me, raised from the dead and desires to be part of my life. Without Jesus I am caught again and again and again. With Him my record is clean- not because I deserve it, but because He loves me.
