Audrey Maroney captured the gold medal in the 3200-meter run at the LaJunta Open held on March 29. Maroney completed the run in 12:43.77 to outpace the competition and contribute to the 10th place finish by the Rye High School Girls’ track team in the field of 21 schools.

Eads won the girls’ side of the meet with a total of 94 points while Rye scored 31 points.

The Lady Thunderbolts also had a pair of third place finishes. Jolee Ortiz finished third in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:36.44 and teammate Isabelle Phillips placed third in the discus with a throw of 99’2”.

Madison Gookin finished fourth in the shot put with a throw of 25’ 6.5”. Finishing fifth was the 4X400 meter relay team composed of Kenzie Graber, Ortiz, Audrey Himmelberg, and Nalani Oili. They ran the relay in a time of 5:07.84.
